Ålesund - Hellesylt - Geiranger
Visit one of the world’s most beatiful fjords - enjoy the Sunnmøre Alps!
This one-way trip goes from Ålesund to Geiranger.
The trip starts in Ålesund, goes via Sykkylven, famous for its furniture industry, over the mountain pass to Stranda and from there to Hellesylt where the fjord cruise to Geiranger starts.
You can choose to leave the bus at Strandafjellet and take advantage of the various offers there, for example a gondola ride to the top or a short hike. (Note that the gondola is only open certain periods of the year. For opening hours, see http://www.strandafjellet.no/activities/gondola-ride.)
In the winter, Stranda offers spectacular skiing. This is one of the very few places in the world where you can ski from the mountain top all the way down to the fjord.
If you want to participate in activities like the guided hike or bike tour you must make an overnight stay. Therefore, your ticket for this trip is valid for 2 days, including the departure date.
The ferry cruise from Hellesylt to Geiranger takes 1 hour, and while cruising the fjord you can see beautiful waterfalls and small farms in the steep mountain sides.
Departure from: Skateflukaia (some departures) or Ålesund bus terminal, track 3

About our trips
This is a “Travel like the locals” tour. The tours use public transport, i.e. regular buses, ferries and boats, but we have done the planning for you so that you can concentrate on enjoying your trip. You travel on your own - there is no guide or tour leader. On most of our tours you must change several times between different buses/ferries/boats, and it is up to you to make sure you catch your connections – truly travelling like a local! (The tours are set up so that the buses, ferries and boats connect.)
Tours are not available for booking on public holidays and during holiday periods such as Easter and Christmas due to deviations in the timetables. The timetable shown is valid for the periods when the tour is bookable.
